Cathy,

The Town is within the 20 day timeframe after acknowledging your request.

The Highway Superintendent said there is no surrender receipt as the plates were transferred to the 2006 replacement van and that the Town no longer has the 1997 Econoline van.

After searching the 2006 and 2007 Town Board minutes, I found no declaration of surplus vehicle for the 1997 van and have no record of how it was disposed.

Ray spoke with me last Friday and he will be delivering his records before February 22, the deadline for responding.

Gail,

Am I reading this correctly ?  This is the second time I have asked what happened to the van; doesn't anyone know or are you waiting for someone to respond to that part of the FOIL?  It appears to be off the insurance list, so something must have been done with it.  VIN # 1FTEE1425VHB74499.

Gail, this is the second time I have foiled that information for the van and the FOIL request for the Police Chief's car was sent on January 21, 2008.  That's almost a month ago.

Cathy,

The Highway Superintendent and Bookkeeper said there are no records; except Resolution #168 that I gave to the Bookkeeper after it was adopted in 2006.

The Police Chief's response will be forthcoming in a couple days.

Subject: FOIL

Gail,

According to the town's Purchasing Polices under Emergency Purchases:

"A permanent file for each emergency will be maintained of all memos, correspondence, police reports (if requied), resolutions and vouchers in the Accounting Department."

Since 2006, there have been two emergency purchases:

1.  I would like to FOIL for review in your office the file for the emergency purchase to replace the 1997 Ford Econoline Van [VIN 1FTEE1425VHB74499] mentioned in Resolution 168 of 2006 passed at the June 7, 2006 Town Board meeting.

I also never received an answer to my FOIL request of October 30, 2007 where I asked for information regarding the same van that was replaced due to this emergency purchase.  My October 30, 2007 FOIL request stated:
  • I would like to FOIL the DMV license surrender receipts or its equivalent as well as the Bill of Sale and whatever is available to prove that the vehicle was sold as a result of the bidding process for the following:
                    1997 Ford E150 Van, FTEE142VHB7449

2.  I would like to FOIL for review in your office the file for the emergency lease approved to replace the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria, Vehicle Identification Number 2FAFP71W4XX110777, which Police Chief Raymond Philo was driving as per  Resolution 144 of 2007 adopted at the June 28, 2007 Special Board Meeting.

I would also like to know the whereabouts of the 1999 Ford Crown Victoria that was replaced.  If it was sold, I would like to know to who (name & address) and for how much and a copy of the receipt for the vehicle.

Thank you.
