Candidates
for the New Hartford town supervisor position must have a thorough
understanding of how town government operates and will need to spell out
specifically how they’ll lead in a more professional manner and create a
transparency that will regain public confidence.
Taxpayers must demand it.
The town faces many complex issues, ranging from fuzzy finances and land
development to tax revenue and commercial growth.
While no supervisor is expected to solve problems overnight, he or she will
need to outline a vision for a town to a constituency that has been shaken by
uncertainty.
In the weeks ahead, candidates will need to begin outlining their ideas for
public discussion.
The selection of a new supervisor in November will be most critical to the
town’s future, and taxpayers are an integral part of the process.
