An
Open Letter
to ALL Residents & Taxpayers in the Town of New Hartford regarding the
closing of Stormwater Group meetings!
MISSION STATEMENT
Concerned Citizens For Honest & Open Government was conceived in October 2006. It is
comprised of individuals whose residences are situated within the boundaries of
the Town of New Hartford, New York. Our members are both professional and non-professional.
Our ideas, goals and objectives serve to inform town residents on matters impacting their quality of life.
Work performed is strictly on a volunteer basis. The Group’s efforts to date have centered on the following
fundamental areas of concern: (1) Compliance with New York State Laws; (2) Assessments on both commercial
and residential real estate and the Grievance process; (3) Environmental issues; (4) Fiscal restraint;
(5) Open Meetings and the Conduct of these Meetings IAW Open Meetings
Law; (6) Dissemination of town information via the internet; (7) Compliance with
New York State Freedom of Information Law (FOIL); (8) Mandatory use of
referendums to the maximum extent possible where the expenditure of tax dollars
is involved; (9) Town Contractual Obligations and (10) Storm Water Issues.
However, the foregoing is merely a template and always a work-in-progress,
subject to change.
While the above is merely an overview of our concerns, goals and objectives; it is within the Group’s
purview to continuously challenge town officials to be open and honest in matters that have recently been
kept from the public eye since January 2006. A basic tenet of our Group is to ensure and maintain the
integrity of public officials whose observed failure of due diligence does not reach beyond the pale of
justice.
We encourage any town resident to view our website to learn more about ways in which they can become
actively involved as a member of our Group and/or to actively participate as a subject matter volunteer on
any of the above mentioned areas of concerns.
