I
am forwarding to you the email and Schenectady County Consolidation report that
I received from Robert Roeckle, from the Department of State. Mr. Roeckle said
there is currently money available for consolidation. I believe that one of the
excuses used by Tony Picente was that it was going to cost New Hartford money.
In my discussion with the DOS, Mr. Roeckle said that Schenectady County
received $100,000 for their study and another $1 million to implement the
consolidation.
Unfortunately, the town and the county seem to just be
talking and doing nothing to push the plan forward. The report may help with
some of the arguments that I am sure will be in the Observer Dispatch as to why
we can't consolidate...too much money, services will suffer, etc.
